8/26 - INSIDE BITCOINS - Teenage Hacker Who Stole $35 Million Behind Beeple and Other Hacks?
(by Eric Dunne)
As per ZachXBT’s investigative findings, a Twitter account named “antihero” can be traced back to these hacks. ZachXBT, in his Twitter thread, has further attached a screenshot of how the user had advertised a Twitter panel on SWAPD- an online marketplace.
Further intensifying the evidence is the fact that the same pseudonym is used on Instagram by an individual who apparently lives in Ontario, Canada.
Just days after, Redman began reselling access to the Twitter panel, and as soon as the payment is received, a hack is reported by Nouns DAO. The address of scammers had exposure to the JRNY Club Twitter hacker, and other attacks too. The hack seems to be conducted by the mentioned Twitter panel which involved other users too.
After the reveal, ZachXBT was a target of hate and racist comments too. Moreover, he mentioned in his thread how right after his Twitter reveal, the apparent pseudonym started wiping their traces off, by going private on Instagram and deleting their SWAPD account.

(By Andrew Hayward)
‘A paradigm shift’
Hofmann previously co-founded Vine and other tech startups before catching the Web3 bug. He launched the NFT project Blitmap, co-created Nouns, and is now building on-chain games with Sup. But Loot proved to be a singular sensation.

8/26 - BANKLESS - “NFT governance experiments 🧪”
(By William Peaster)
Last weekend, the BLVKHVND esports DAO won a world championship event, becoming the first decentralized organization to achieve a world title!
The win was amazing, and it’s also among a spate of interesting advances that are coming to the fore around the crossroads of decentralized governance and NFTs right now. Some other things I’m watching excitedly include:
😜 jokedao innovating a new community-driven NFT governance system.
💡 Lil Nouns DAO pioneering an idea board system that’s poised to become adopted by DAOs far and wide.
🍴 Nouns Builder nearing, so soon projects can easily customize their own Nouns DAO forks.
Nouns DAO started the ninth round of its Launchpad program for Nounish builders.
🧃 Juicebox now being able to field NFT mint proceeds directly from Zora sales into a decentralized treasury.
Pay attention to these types of frontier NFT-adjacent governance experiments, because they’re paving important new pathways for the decentralized social happenings of tomorrow. In the meantime, thanks for reading and have a great weekend ✌️

8/23 - COINGEKCO - 10 Most Expensive NFTs Ever Sold! [Updated August 2022]
(By Josiah Makori)
8. CryptoPunk #4156 - $10.26 Million
CryptoPunk #4156 is the eighth most expensive NFT sold ever and one of the most recognizable CryptoPunks in the NFTverse. For one, Beeple featured Punk in one of his art pieces, but 4156 also proceeded to launch Nouns - another notable NFT project that is renowned for its unique release and astronomical prices.
CryptoPunk #4156 was sold on December 21, 2021, for a whopping 10.26 million dollars after some dispute with the creators over commercialization rights. The original owner, Punk 4156, had bought it for $1.25 million before selling it nine months later at a profit of almost tenfold.

8/22 - LEXOLOGY - NFT projects reconsider their licensing strategies
(by Mark F. Radcliffe)
Non-fungible token (NFT) projects are reconsidering their licensing strategies as they develop their business models. A number of major NFT projects, such as Nouns, Goblin Town, Cryptoadz and MFERS, have adopted as their initial approach Creative Commons Zero - no rights reserved (CC0). CC0 is the declaration of abandonment of copyright developed by Creative Commons. Other NFT projects are opting instead for a commercial license.
In a new development, Kevin Rose and Proof Collective announced on August 4 that they were abandoning the copyrights in their well-known Moonbirds (and Oddities) NFT collections by using CC0. These collections had originally been licensed under a commercial license. Some community members have already complained that they have lost licensing deals because the copyright in the Moonbird images to which they had commercial rights are no longer protected by copyright.

What is Nouns?
Nouns is a generative non-fungible token project on the Ethereum blockchain. Nouns are 32x32 pixel characters based on people, places, and things. One noun is generated every day. Here is an example of nouns:
Noun Auctions
One noun is auctioned every 24 hours, forever. One interface for participating in noun auctions is nouns.wtf, which is a website built and maintained by the project founders ('Nounders'):
In the auction above, Noun 8, which is the 9th Noun (Noun IDs start at 0) is for sale. The current bid is 88.88 ETH (Ether), and there are 2 hours, 21 minutes, and 50 seconds remaining in the auction. If this auction ends with no further bids, 88.88 ETH from xaix.eth ($286,824 USD as of this writing) will be automatically and trustlessly sent to the Nouns DAO Treasury and xaix.eth will win this Noun, which means that the ERC-721 token will be transferred to their address.
You can see all the Noun ERC-721 tokens here: https://opensea.io/collection/nouns
Noun Auction Settlement
Because of the way Ethereum works, Noun auctions must be settled after they are completed. The auction settlement transaction does three things: 1. it sends the current NOUN ERC-721 token to the winner of the auction, 2. generates the next Noun, and 3. begins the next 24 hour Noun auction.
Nouns DAO
The Nouns DAO treasury receives 100% of ETH proceeds from daily noun auctions. As of this writing, the Nouns DAO treasury contains 27,414 ETH, the equivalent of $45,953,952.23 USD.
Nouns DAO, which is based on Compound Governance, is also the main governing body of the Nouns ecosystem. Each noun is an irrevocable member of Nouns DAO and entitled to one vote in all governance matters.
Here is an image of https://nouns.wtf/vote
Nouns use their voting abilities (remember, 1 Noun = 1 vote) to direct the treasury. Nouns can create and vote on governance proposals, which execute transactions on the ethereum blockchain when they are approved.
